Hanging by a Thread
Made specifically for entry into a show themed “First Responders” to honor them.
The drawing was penciled on white cotton, then stitched free hand on a domestic Bernina with black and white thread.
Inks were applied to color the piece. Bindings are made of raw edge commercial fabrics quilted in place as a border.
Paramedics intervene daily in life and death situations. Lives do, indeed, hang by a thread. This work was inspired by paramedics who answered a frantic call at my own home early in 2021. Bless them, they are angels.
